New productivity heights with Océ JetStream 4300 system
Ideal solution for book, magazine, newspaper and transaction full-color inkjet printing at 656 feet per minute
Trumbull, CT June 7, 2012 Océ, a Canon Group company and an international leader in digital document management, announces the new Océ JetStream® 4300 printing system, further extending the Océ continuous feed inkjet portfolio. The Océ JetStream 4300 press is the high-speed workhorse of the Océ JetStream Wide series, giving the print provider new economies of scale and helping improve profitability.
Higher productivity
The new Océ JetStream 4300 inkjet press is a 656 fpm full-color production press with a 30" wide paper transport and therefore is an ideal solution for book, magazine, newspaper and transaction printing. Trade books, for example in the 6" x 9" format, can be printed 4-up, producing up to 1800 256-page books per hour. This range of productivity drives down the cost per book or newspaper produced, thereby helping increase the economies of scale in favor of the print provider.
Based on field-proven Océ technologies
With the experience gained from over 300 inkjet presses ordered and installed in the market, Océ continually improves its technology to ensure maximum productivity. In addition, the company aims at reducing the time required for maintenance due to the ingenious simplification of several mechanical processes. For example, the automated head cleaning unit with fewer moving components is just one of the several improvements that increases stability and promotes higher productivity.
Industry-proven Océ DigiDot® inkjet technology generates continuous high quality printing with 1200 dpi perceived image quality at top speed with either dye or pigment-based ink.
"The Océ JetStream 4300 press opens up a whole new range of business opportunities," said Scott Robertz, Océ product marketing manager, Production Printing Systems division of Océ North America. "Never before has it been so attractive for book printers to move short and medium run lengths from offset to digital production. This press also introduces the opportunity to digitally print broadsheet newspapers in small runs for localized production."
New opportunities also extend to direct mail, commercial applications, and transactional applications according to Kris Albee, Océ product marketing director. "Commercial applications and direct mail print service providers can more effectively meet the challenge of tight production windows and also improve time to market delivery."
Driving performance at maximum speed
Océ PRISMAproduction® Software Suite, a leading output management system solution for digital web-fed production presses, coupled with the unrivalled performance of the Océ SRA® MP controller, drives full-color variable data at an uninterrupted production speed of 656 fpm on a 30" wide web. Océ, a charter member of the AFP Color Consortium, supports the most recent AFP IS/3 standards. The SRA MP controller, processing the IPDS datastream, drives the press at full speed with correct and consistent color reproduction for transactional and direct mail applications.
A compelling feature for the book and newspaper printing industry is the support of the native PDF (Adobe® PDF Print Engine 2.5) format that is ripped directly on the press controller, eliminating the costly and time-consuming intermediate process. Finally, the PCL 6 datastream is also supported by the Océ SRA MP controller.
First implementations are taking place
The strategic alliance between Océ and manroland web systems has already led to the initiation of several projects, one of these being the implementation of two Océ JetStream 4300 presses at Rivet Presse Edition in France for the production of national and regional newspapers. The manroland® newspaper folder and finishing device will be integrated in line with the Océ JetStream 4300 press and can produce up to 40,000 newspapers in variable formats in five hours.
